Mission and vision

FREE Nature lives by the motto 'nature on its own two feet'. FREE Nature develops landscapes that are able to form and sustain themselves, where natural processes are given plenty of space. Originally, our natural landscape is rich in large grazers such as wisent, aurochs and wild horse, being predated by species as wolf and lynx. By bringing these large animals back in nature, we create rich and varied landscapes.

Not only is nature free to form itself: humans are also free to come and enjoy it. We strive to working in areas that are freely accessible. FREE Nature's portfolio is varied. We work in both large natural reserves, spanning hundreds of hectares, but are also active in small areas counting just ten. On a made to measure basis, we determine our possibilities. What natural processes can we initiate? Seen from both an ecological and social perspective: what will happen if we let nature back in? And can we as managers increasingly step aside, so that nature can truly stand on its own two feet?
