International

Although based in The Netherlands, The Foundation for Restoring European Ecosystems carries a distinctly European name. We are eager to share our knowledge and experience. Not only with our neighbouring countries, but also across Europe and beyond. FREE Nature frequently engages in international activities. Surplus animals from Dutch nature reserves have been relocated to areas in Spain, Estonia, Latvia, France, Germany, and Bulgaria, where they continue their process of rewilding.

In 2010, FREE Nature played a pivotal role in the establishment of Rewilding Europe, an organization dedicated to large-scale development of new natural areas in Europe's so-called 'emptying lands'. FREE Nature's expertise in rewilding various large grazer species, has been instrumental in supporting this initiative.

We also support smaller projects, and have collaborated with local communities in countries like Bulgaria. Knowledge exchange regularly occurs at international symposia and workshops held in Germany, Poland, and other countries.

If you require animals, advice, or guidance for nature development projects elsewhere in Europe, FREE Nature is your ideal partner.
